Air Fryer Turkey Burgers are absolutely scrumptious — crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. Making turkey burgers in the air fryer is quick, simple, and leaves you with very little cleanup.
Air Fryer Turkey Burgers
Air fryers have opened up an easy, healthier way to enjoy favorite comfort foods. One of the best examples is these Air Fryer Turkey Burgers — well seasoned, browned on the outside, and juicy inside.
Air frying circulates hot air around the patties, creating a nice crust while keeping the center moist. They’re perfect topped with cheese or enjoyed with minimal garnishes.

Can I use ground beef instead of turkey?
Yes. Ground beef works well in the air fryer and the cooking temperature is similar. If you prefer medium-rare burgers, reduce the cook time while keeping the same temperature. One advantage of air fryers is you can open the basket or lid to check and flip during cooking, which helps achieve the doneness you like.

This is how I like my burgers: plenty of cheese and minimal toppings. Yum!
Which air fryer is the best?
There are many types of air fryers: dedicated units, lids for multi-cookers, and multi-function appliances. Any model that lets you control temperature and time will work. I use the Ninja Foodi as both a pressure cooker and air fryer and find it reliable, but most brands will produce similar results when you adjust times for your machine.

Air Fryer Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 Egg
- 1/3 cup Bread Crumbs
- 1/4 cup Whole Milk
- 1 tsp Kosher Salt (or 3/4 tsp regular salt)
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/4 tsp Poultry Seasoning
- 1 lb Ground Turkey (85% to 93% lean)
- Sliced Cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat the egg. Add the bread crumbs and milk, then mix well.
- Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and poultry seasoning. Mix.
- Add the ground turkey and combine with a fork until evenly mixed.
- Form 4 (4 oz) patties, or 3 (6 oz), or 2 (8 oz). Press an indent in the center of each patty about the size of a nickel to reduce puffing.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the patties in a single layer.
- Close the air fryer or select the air fry function on your appliance.
- Note: Thicker patties may need longer cook times. For 4 oz patties cook at 360°F for 14 minutes. For 6 oz patties cook 17 minutes. For 8 oz patties cook 20 minutes. Flip the burgers halfway through cooking.
- Ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F for turkey burgers to be safe to eat.
- If using cheese, place slices on the patties and close the fryer for a couple of minutes to melt.
- Remove and assemble your turkey burger with your preferred bun and toppings.
Notes
There are many styles of air fryers. I used a Ninja Foodi for this recipe; cook times may vary by model, so adjust as needed.
