The topic of boundaries has come up many times in the Harder to Kill Club. Your energy is incredibly important. As an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and an empath, setting boundaries is essential.

The Importance of Setting Boundaries
In my Core 4 framework I call the pillar Recharge Your Energy, not just “Sleep More.” Sleep is vital — it has been one of the biggest game changers in reclaiming my life — but energy management is broader than sleep alone.
Think of energy like a bank account. You can make many deposits at night through restorative sleep, but if you constantly withdraw energy during the day without replenishing, you’ll run a deficit. Daily habits and boundary choices determine how much of your energy remains for the things that matter.
Human beings are dynamic. Recovery involves more than sleep: it means managing emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical energy. That means saying no, protecting your time, and choosing where you invest your attention.
I hear from many of you who are exhausted by the constant rush — feeling like you never have time for yourself, stuck on a hamster wheel, and unsure how to set limits. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
People who identify as Obligers (see Gretchen Rubin’s Four Tendencies quiz) often struggle with boundary-setting because they meet others’ expectations before their own. I’m not an Obliger, but I still wrestle with this as a recovering perfectionist. Learning to take time for myself rather than giving it away has been a long, necessary process. What about you?
